Crystal Beach 5k Run/Walk - A Tradition

The first CB5K was in 2005 as the result of brainstorming FOCB members trying to raise some money to finance their efforts for community building events.  The 5K idea took off like the "Comet"!

In year #1 - 2005, there were 70 runners and walkers making their way down Erie Rd. in a wind and rainstorm.  But the bad weather didn't stop us!   The numbers have increased annually as has the support from  Niagara Region residents and  businesses.  It has become a Thanksgiving week-end tradition here in Crystal Beach.  The CB5K is held annually on the Saturday before Canadian Thanksgiving Monday.

On Saturday, October 12, 2013 - the 9th annual, we had over 500 runners and walkers registered.  The Kids Fun Run for ages 9 and under,  is held right before the 5K and had a record 50 plus seriously pumped kids in 2013!  Both races begin and end on Erie Rd. at The Crystal Chandelier Restaurant.

An awards ceremony, post race party with live music , food and beverages is held at Sneakers Restaurant immediately following the 5K run.  In 2013 we presented a custom "Crystal Beach Sugar Waffle" finisher medal to ALL  who crossed the finish line - thanks to the generous financial support from Alfred Beam Excavating!  Winner medals were also awarded to the top 3 in each age group.  Overall winning male and female plaques are also presented.  Our vintage T-shirts have  become a collectors item and have been seen being worn all over the Niagara Region and Buffalo year round.

The course is a flat, fast, out and back sanctioned / certified course.  For more information log onto
